Bitches Be Hungry: Saucy Asian Meatballs!

Lately, I’ve been craving meat (hi, possible iron deficiency?), and I thought that I absolutely need some spicy, hearty meatballs!

But instead of going Italian or Swedish, I decided to go Asian!

The pork is flavored with chili limes, soy, and ginger, and served with a sriracha-hoisin dipping sauce.

 

Yummy!

 

For Meatballs:

2 lb of ground pork
1 cup of breadcrumbs
3 tablespoons of chopped garlic
3 tablespoons of chopped ginger
3 tablespoons of Trader Joe’s Chili Lime Seasoning
1/2 cup of cilantro, chopped
1/2 cups of green onion, chopped
1/3 cups of soy sauce
1/3 cups of Sambal Oelek Chili Paste

 

For Sauce:

2/3 cups of hoisin sauce
1/4 cups of rice wine vinegar
2 tablespoons of chopped garlic
2 tablespoons of fish sauce
1 tablespoon of sesame oil

1 tablespoon of sesame seeds (optional)

 

Combine all of these ingredients for the meatballs in a large bowl.

Mix thoroughly.

I made the meatballs about 1 inch or so, which made about 40-ish meatballs.

Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the meatballs are browned & no longer pink inside.

 

While the meatballs are cooking, make the dipping sauce.

In a small pot, whisk all of the ingredients together over medium heat.

You can also have the the dipping sauce cold, but I warmed it because I planned on coating the meatballs with the sauce.

 

 

Once the meatballs are done, coat in the sauce & sprinkle the meatballs with the sesame seeds.

This is optional, but 1.) it adds a little crunch, and 2.) it looks cute!

And there you have it! I ate it with rice, but I think this would make a great hors d’oeuvre!
