Bitches Be Cooking: Better then Takeout Mongolian Beef BBQ.

I have taking a liking to anything that vaguely resemble Asian cuisine.

In fact, I’ve been craving the cuisine of the Far East so much lately, I have not one but two bottles of fish sauce in my cabinet.

And while I tend to err on the side of Thai/Vietnamese food, sometimes you just want some good ass Chinese!
And since there are no reaaallly good Chinese restaurants in my area, I tend to make all of my “takeout” myself.

This easy recipe for Mongolian beef was made in less than 20 minutes, making it a great weeknight meal!

Let’s get cooking, shall we?

1 pound of Flank steak, sliced thin

1/2 cups of soy sauce

1/2 cups of light brown sugar

3 tablespoons of chopped garlic

1 tablespoon of chopped ginger

1 tablespoon of jalapeño pepper, chopped

2 scallions, chopped

2 tablespoons of cornstarch

1 tablespoon of vegetable oil

A common technique I noticed in Asian cooking is tossing meat in cornstarch, which allows the sauce to stick to the meat better.

Start off by tossing the beef in two tablespoons of cornstarch & setting aside.

In a separate bowl, add the soy sauce, brown sugar, and 2 teaspoons of corn starch, mix until combined.

In a medium sized pan, heat the vegetable oil & sauté the garlic, ginger, scallions & jalapeños until they are soft. Then add the beef & cook for about 4 minutes or until brown.

Add the sauce to the pan & mix so the beef is evenly coated. Cook for about 2 more minutes so the sauce thickens.

Serve over sticky rice & there you have it!
