Bitches Be Dining: Sardine Supper Club.

There are dinners at your friends house, and then there are dinner parties.

I went to what I’m now classifying as my first grown-up dinner party on Tuesday & honestly, it was life changing.

Boyfriend & I were invited to our first (and hopefully not our last) #SardineSupperClub.

The Sardine Supper Club is a dining experience curated by our friends Anna & Paulina.

Paulina and Anna throw dinner parties for a living. They wanted a way to bring the same level of intention to their friends, while having an opportunity to break bread with people they love. people don’t take the time to cook for each other anymore, you know?

Sardine Supper Club is a way for them  to learn, share, and document this crazy journey we’re on called your 20’s.

Dinner stared off with steak tartar with a quail egg & the eponymous sardines.

Although I consider myself a foodie, I can be very picky when I decide I don’t want to like something, but there’s no denying that the tartar was delicious (mine is the one sans quail eggs, idc idc, I hate eggs).

I think it was capers that did it for me , they added a layer of brine-y, slightly acidic flavor that I love.

I found out that I like sardines that night as well. I don’t know how people don’t like them! The salty fish almost melts in your mouth, what’s not to love?

For our main course, my first mind was wrong again, and I had to ignore my pickiness.

We had one of the best salads I’ve ever had: an arugula salad with brown butter figs, prosucitto, and humboldt fog goat cheese. I live for goat cheese, and the brown butter figs perfectly balanced the saltiness of the cheese.

In addition to the salad, we ate rigatoni with a pea & Greek yogurt with feta cheese, fresh basil & a pine nut & chili oil drizzle. Now this is where Miss Picky came to the table; in my head, I 1.) hate peas, 2.) hate Greek yogurt, & 3.) hate feta cheese.

But somehow, it just worked. There was no strong pea flavor, the feta was very creamy, it was perfect.

We finished the night with some dark cherries & vermouth, which is the most adult ass dessert if you ask me.

The women have inspired me to experiment with my cooking, and made me want to make dinners an experience, not just a meal.

Thank you for having me ladies! #SardineSupperClub
