Snax N The City: Jolly Pumpkin.

About a week ago, I ran a poll on SnaxNTheCity’s twitter page (follow us @SnaxNTheCity_) about people’s opinions about pineapples on pizza’s and the results were…

You guys couldn’t decide where pineapples on pizza suck or God’s gift to Earth.

But that’s okay!

Because I have a pizza that will stun pineapple-lovers & change the naysayers minds.

Jolly Pumpkin is a pretty cool restaurant right by #Boyfriend’s apartment. If it sounds familiar, it’s the restaurant that President Obama visited when he came to Detroit! Hey mr. President!

When I made my visit, I tried the Korean Short rib & the South Pacific because life is too short to be indecisive when it comes to pizza.

Lt’s start with the Korean Short-Rib which had scallions , mozzarella, black sesame, arugula,  sesame soy vinaigrette & short-rib (ovbi) on it.

pizza 1

The short rib was very flavorful &  had a slight kick to it, which I enjoyed.

But the real star was the South Pacific:

Topped with honeyed bacon, jalapeno, shaved red onion, chipotle tomato sauce, mozzarella, and yes, candied pineapple.

pizza 2

Since the pineapples are candied, this eliminates any potential tartness that usually comes with pineapples. While the honeyed bacon adds the necessary saltiness to this pie.

Overall, these unique pizzas are a must try if you’re wanting something that’s familiar, but different.
